GPS
Cool stuff - NMEATime
Let's face it, us geeks like to have things really accurate and precise. One thing that we like to have set as accurately as possible is the time. There are many different software apps that let you do this now by synchronizing with web based time servers but here's one that harnesses the power of your GPSr that is truly astronomical ... this software app synchronizes your PC clock with the GPS satellites!
GPS relies of accurate time signals and this is where NMEATime from VisualGPS comes in - it allows you to hook into the signal and set your system time to that of the GPS signal.
The executable file is just over 1 Mb and installation is easy with Windows 95 - XP being supported. Then all you need is a GPSr (duh!), PC connection cable and GPS reception (indoors you might need an external antenna poking out of a window) and you're off! If you don't want to use the GPS signal there is an option to set you system time via Web based synchronization servers too.

You can even customize it to show you the day of the year for that real NASA look!

A great piece of software that no geek should be without!
