What follows is a list of security products that we recommend.  These are products that we have tested and used extensively and trust.

Encryption

• PGP - Industry standard.  Includes file, email and disk encryption capability.  Easy to use and cost-effective (paid for and free version available)!

• Winzip - Compression software.  New version 9 (currently in beta) comes complete with support for 128-bit and 256-bit AES encryption.

Anti virus

• Norton Antivirus 2004 - Arguably the best AV software.  Their website also has extensive virus removal tools too.

• Sophos - Anti virus tools and more!

Firewall

• Zone Alarm - Comprehensive hacker protection.  Easy to use and come in both a paid for and free version.

• BlackICE - Another robust firewall package.

Secure deletion

• Eraser - Securely delete files, folders and clear free space on your system.  Freeware.

Password storage/generators

• PasswordSafe - Easy to use and secure password storage/generator.  Originally written by the great crypto expert Bruce Schneier

Email Security

• Attachment Option for Outlook - Take control over attachment control in Outlook.  Allows you to only view email as plain text, disabling unsafe scripting.

Backup

• Second Copy 2000 - Create automatic backups of important data files to another directory, disk or computer across the network. Second Copy 2000 can also automatically create compressed files.
